CEO / Secretary - Ahmed Maalim Fatah

Ahmed Maalim Fatah, born on the 1st of January 1978 in Mandera Town. He is married and has 15 children.

Ahmed has over 35 years (1985–2023) of work experience revolving around civil service and humanitarian work. He devoted these many years to working with and supporting communities in and out of conflict. The specific tasks around conflict and peacebuilding involved monitoring conflict early warning indicators, organizing rapid responses to conflict situations, conflict resolution and settlement processes, and conducting conflict analysis to target the root, core and triggers for mitigation.

In addition, Ahmed has dedicated his efforts and energy to transforming initiatives under a devolved system of governance. From 2013 to 2022, Ahmed held the position of County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in the Mandera County Government. While working as CECM, Ahmed held various portfolios.

Ahmed also chaired the county peace forum, which brought together state and non-state actors for the coordination of peace activities in Mandera County. Ahmed played a key role in developing the Mandera County Action Plan for prevention and countering violent extremism and linked it to the national action plan under the counter-terrorism platform. Further, Ahmed coordinated community-based prevention of violent extremism, recruiting, training and
facilitating CVE champions, rehabilitating, and re-integrating radicalized returnees.

Ahmed was also instrumental in the formation of a peace and cohesion sector forum that brought together Ten counties (Lamu, Tana River, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Turkana, Isiolo, Samburu and West Pokot) under Frontier Counties Development Council, which is the regional block for 10 counties and worked closely with partners like
FCDO/DFID, NCIC/Interpeace, DLCI/PPG, Coalition for Peace, Pact, IGAD/Cewarn, NSC, IRK, DRC, SRC, Tetra Park etc.
After the formation of the FCDC peace sector forum, Ahmed was elected the pioneer chairman from 2019 to 2023.

At the National level, Ahmed chaired the County Executive Members caucus for public service for the 47 counties of Kenya

Ahmed also worked with several local and international organisations including Pact Global, Act Change Transform (act!), Islamic African Relief Agency (IARA), American Refugee Committee (ARC), Tecla Loroupe Peace Foundation, Interpeace/NEPCOH ( Network of peace cohesion and Heritage).

Currently, Ahmed is the chairman of the board of directors of Pact in Kenya with headquarters in Washington DC.
Ahmed was a mong the technical team that developed Northern Kenya Economic blueprint for the Kenya kwanza government's bottom-up model.
